• Anthems:

Spanish National Anthem: The official anthem of Spain is the "Marcha Real" or Royal March.   This is used for all official ocassions, festivities, and celebrations across the country.  It dates back to 1770.  There are no official lyrics to this march, but several sets of text have been unofficially added since.  One of the most popular sung versions is that of poet José María Permán (1897-1981).  Children at schools learn a particular set that is sung when this march is played. 

Spanish National Anthem

Canarian Anthem: On May 30, The Canary Islands celebrate Canary Islands Day.  This is a relatively new holiday.  Even though the Spanish national anthem is played at all major official events and celebrations, as of recent, a new Canarian Anthem has emerged.  It is arranged for Chorus and Orchestra from the most famous Canarian lullaby called "Arrorró" and other famous folk songs.  This Regional Anthem has been arranged by Teobaldo Power with lyrics by José M. Tarrida.
