Architecture:

Courtyard houses - What are they?  Where do they come from?  Is there a relation between these in the Canary Islands and these in New Orleans and other parts of the world?

There is a long history of the courtyard house.  These were first built for extreme hot weather conditions.  But as the architecture shows, courtyards are a staple of the Canarian Home.  There are often plants, a fountain, and other beatiful decorations in this central place in the home.
